04/06/2021 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. Comment not resolved; the dimensions of the two primary roof scuppers are not shown on the roof plan, A300. The downspouts have multiple sizes shown on sheet A302: 7” x 7” in detail 8/A302, 6” diameter in detail 9/A302, and 6” wide x unknown dimension in detail 15/A302. The “overflow” opening in the scupper collector box are 6” x 6” in detail 9/A302 and 6” x 8” in detail 15/A302. [Initial comment: Provide roof drainage and scupper size calculations based on the 100-year hourly rainfall rate for Tucson, 3” per hour. Reference: Sections 1101.7, 1106, and 1108, IPC 2018.]
2. The “overflow” openings in the scupper collector boxes do not qualify as secondary drains because they will not provide any roof drainage if the primary scupper is blocked for any reason. Secondary roof drains shall have the same capacity as the primary roof drains, they shall have a different discharge end point than the primary roof drains, and the end point of their discharge shall be above grade and located in an area that is normally observable to the building occupants. Reference: Section 1108.2 and 1108.3, IPC 2018. [Initial comment: Provide secondary roof drains; the discharge point of the secondary roof drains shall be separate from the primary roof drains per Section 1108.2, IPC 2018. Reference: Section 1101.7, IPC 2018 and Section 1611.1, IBC 2018.]
