04/17/2017 STANTEC BUILDING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change Per ICC/ANSI A117.1-2009 Sec. 405.2 a rail or other barrier must be provided under the stairs where the vertical clearance is less than 80-inches. A 2-inch high steel tube fastened horizontally to the floor is not a "barrier" and actually presents a trip hazard to someone not paying attention.
