01/05/2016 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Completed
01/05/2016 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. The revised mixing valve, Powers model LFLM495, is listed to ASSE 1070 but the manufacturer's specification sheet warns that the valve is not to be used at the source of the hot water when an ASSE 1070-listed mixing valve is required. Further, the manufacturer states that the valve is not to be used at the hot water source in recirculation systems. Reference: Section 303.2, IPC 2012. [Initial comment: The specified temperature mixing valve (Powers LM490) is listed as conforming to ASSE 1017, not ASSE 1070. Provide tempered water for the restroom lavatories using approved devices conforming to ASSE 1070. Reference: Section 607.1.2, IPC 2012.]
2. An under-slab vent is still shown for a floor sink; clarify how the vent is to remain below the slab and still comply with the requirements of Section 905.4, IPC 2012. [Initial comment: Verify that all of the vents (except for vents serving interceptors located outdoors) rise vertically to at least 6" above the flood rims of the fixtures they protect prior to running horizontally. Reference: Section 905.4, IPC 2012.]
3. Revise the civil drawing to show the installation of the vent for the grease interceptor. If two vents are planned for the grease interceptor, they may not be combined until they are at least 6" above the flood rim of the grease interceptor. Reference: Section 905.5, IPC 2012. [Initial comment: Show the installation of the gravity grease interceptor including cleanouts and venting. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.]
4. Provide the sizes for the proposed roof drains and the horizontal storm drainage piping shown on sheet A130. Include the minimum slope of the horizontal storm drainage piping. Note that the roof areas are to include the tops of the parapets - they drain to the roof. ([Initial comment: Provide roof drainage calculations and plans. Include the effect of any vertical walls that can divert rainfall onto the roof. Show the slope of the horizontal rainwater pipes on the plans. Reference: Sections 1101, 1106 and 1108, IPC 2012.]
5. Verify that the pipe sizes result in a maximum pressure drop of 0.5" WG from the gas meter to the equipment connection. Based on a developed length of 175-feet, there are eight sections of under-sized pipe. [Initial comment: Provide gas pipe sizing calculations demonstrating conformance to Sections 402.1 and 402.3, IFGC 2012. If the piping has not been sized using a developed length of 175-feet, state the developed length to each appliance. Show the size of each pipe section on the natural gas riser diagram.]
01/06/2016 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. A 200-pound liquid cryogenic tank (dewar) for CO2 is shown on sheet K402. Provide a mechanical exhaust system activated by an asphyxiant gas detection system. The alarm system itself will be handled as a separate permit from the Tucson Fire Department. [Initial comment: If the carbon dioxide storage consists of more than two 50-pound cylinders, provide a mechanical exhaust system activated by an asphyxiant gas detection system. Reference: Tucson Fire Department Standard Operating Guideline for Compressed Gases dated 04/28/2015.]
2. The plans only indicate that a "compatible thermostat" is required. List the features for the programmable thermostat that will be required to comply with Section C403.2.4, IEEC 2012. [Initial comment: Show that each rooftop unit has a thermostatic control that provides for off-hour and set-back control, automatic shutdown and start-up control and, if the control does not require manual changeover from the heating and cooling modes, restricts set point overlap. Reference: Section C403.2.4, IECC 2012.]
3. Comment not resolved; include the weight of personnel working in or on the hood on the roof framing plan and provide structural details to show how the hoods are to be supported from the roof framing. [Initial comment: Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I hoods are supported from the building structure in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2012 (the hood hanging weight plus the weight of personnel working in or on the hood). Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2012.]
4. Based on the civil and architectural drawings, the roof drains terminate in areas that will result in surface runoff. Terminate the condensate drains at an approved disposal location. [Initial comment: Condensate drains shall be terminated at an approved disposal location (i.e. not onto the roof). Show the size, routing, and termination of the condensate drains. Reference: Section 307.2.1, IMC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson.]
5. Provide the room areas used to determine the occupant load for the ventilation calculations. [Initial comment: The occupant load used to calculate the required ventilation is not necessarily the same as the occupant load used for calculating exiting requirements. The occupant load used for calculating the minimum required ventilation is to be based on Table 403.3, IMC 2012 or an approved engineering analysis of the specific occupancy type. Reference: Section 403.3, IMC 2012.]
6. There are a total of 16 cooking appliances located in rooms 110 and 111 that are not under a hood. Will hood #1 be operational throughout the operating hours to provide the required general exhaust for these rooms? [Initial comment: Provide general room exhaust for any cooking appliance that does not require the installation of a Type II hood. The minimum exhaust rate shall be 0.70 CFM per square foot, using a minimum area of 100 square feet for each individual appliance. Reference: Section 507.2.2, IMC 2012.]

12/30/2015 ERIC NEWCOMB BUILDING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change 1. PREVIOUS COMMENT 3; SHEET S101 (FOUNDATION PLAN); STRUCTURAL CALCULATIONS (SHEET 13): THE CALCULATIONS STILL INDICATE THE MASONRY WALL VERTICAL REINFORCING TO BE #5 AT 32" OC, AND THE DRAWINGS INDICATE #5 AT 40" OC. PLEASE CLARIFY.
2. PREVIOUS COMMENT 8; STRUCTURAL CALCULATIONS; SHEET 26: THE SHEAR WALL D FOOTING INDICATES A 4.8' X 1.0' DEEP FOOTING, WHILE THE FOUNDATION PLAN (S101) INDICATES A 4'-0" WIDE X 1'-6" DEEP FOOTING. PLEASE CLARIFY.
3. GENERAL: PLEASE PROVIDE WRITTEN RESPONSES TO ALL REVIEW COMMENTS.
