Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. 09/25/2009 VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS JBURGE Correction Required IFC 1008.1.8.3 Locks and latches. Locks and latches shall be permitted to prevent operation of doors where any of the following exists: 2.2. A readily visible durable sign is posted on the egress side on or adjacent to the door stating: THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHEN BUILDING IS OCCUPIED. The sign shall be in letters 1 inch (25 mm) high on a contrasting background, 2.3. The use of the key-operated locking device is revocable by the fire code official for due cause. _____1. Post the wording "THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHEN BUILDING IS OCCUPIED" on the inside of the south entrance door.

09/25/2009 VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS JBURGE Correction Required IFC 1027.8 Opening force for doors. The opening force for interior side-swinging doors without closers shall not exceed a 5-pound (22 N) force. For other side-swinging, sliding and folding doors, the door latch shall release when subjected to a force of not more than 15 pounds (66 N). The door shall be set in motion when subjected to a force not exceeding a 30-pound (133 N) force. The door shall swing to a full-open position when subjected to a force of not more than 50 pounds (222 N). Forces shall be applied to the latch side. _____1. The northeast door shall be repaired and open easily.
