The requirement for the refrigeration system efficiency (Table C403.10.2.1 (3), IECC 2018) requires the ratio of the total heat (in BTU) removed from the walk-in box during a 1-year usage period to the total energy input of the refrigeration system in Watt-hours during the same period. The maximum energy consumption of a door for walk-in cooler is based not only on the R-value of the door's insulation but on the gaskets and sweeps for the door.
