12/17/2018 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change The architectural floor plan shows a fire separation between the waste storage room and the remainder of the building but the mechanical plan needs to show fire dampers for the duct penetrations into the waste storage room. Also, the code review on sheet G-002 needs to be revised to indicate the waste storage room is an H-3 occupancy not an S-1 occupancy due to the excess quantities of hazardous materials being stored. [Initial comment: Provide fire separation for the storage room (H-3 occupancy) and the remainder of the building. Reference: Sections 607.5.3, and 607.6.1, IMC 2012.]
12/17/2018 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change The 8" x 8"primary scuppers noted on drawing AR-104 are adequate for the roof area being drained but the calculated size for the secondary scuppers is incorrect. Scuppers are essentially weirs, not horizontal pipes (a civil engineer can show you how to determine the required scupper width). Assuming that each secondary scupper is located 2" above the lowest point of the roof and has a 2" head, the minimum width is 7.5". The secondary scuppers are required to have an "…end point of discharge separate from the primary system." In addition, the minimum dimension of a scupper is 4-inches. Show the secondary scuppers on the roof plan and as appropriate, on the building elevations. [Initial comment: Provide secondary (overflow) roof drainage. Reference: Sections 1101, 1106 and 1108, IPC 2012, and Sections 1611.1 and 1611.3, IBC 2012.]
