04/19/2017 | PIMA COUNTY | ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | ELECTRICAL – COMMERCIAL Reviewer: Charlie Bard, April 19, 2017 The Outdoor Lighting Code Lumen Calculations on sheet E6.1 only appear to show lumen calculations for light fixtures pertaining to this building. However, the lumen calculations per the OLC must include all light fixtures on the parcel. |
04/19/2017 | PIMA COUNTY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | PLUMBING – COMMERCIAL Reviewer: Chris Anderson, April 19, 2017 On Plumbing Fixtures schedule, sheet M9.6, confirm that selected lavatory faucets will deliver no more than .25 gallon per metering cycle per City of Tucson amendment to the 2012 IPC. |
04/19/2017 | PIMA COUNTY | BUILDING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | T17CM02636 –PLAN REVIEW COMMENTS BUILDING – COMMERCIAL Reviewer: Chris Anderson, April 19, 2017 A note in the Code Analysis, sheet A0.2, says that “occupant load per Table 1014.1.2 is significantly higher than the number of occupants rms will have in the building. The anticipated maximum occupancy of the building is 315. This reduced occupancy is being used for plumbing fixture requirements only.” While it is agreed that Table 1004.1.2 values will not accurately reflect the functions in test rooms and other supportive spaces we need to see a written breakdown of how the occupancy was calculated, and, with resultant occupancy values for each space shown on the Code Analysis & Egress Plan. Ref. 2012 IBC 107.2.1. Several rooms (L0510 Control Rm, E0500 SWES/CIL) that appear to be office type areas are large enough that two egress doors swinging in the direction of travel are required per Table 1004.1.2. @ 100 Sf per occupant. Please address this per item 1 above. Please label rooms (in parenthesis, if wish) according to their function. For example, SWES/CIL is not informative to the plans reviewer. Add “Prefabricated fire pump house” to Deferred Submittals list on sheet G0.0. On Code Analysis & Egress Plan, sheet A0.2, add arrows from 3-hr fire-rated opening protective notes to point to roll-up doors at either end of west elevation. Details 1 & 6/A5.13 do not provide a vertical dimension for the open stair riser; however per the 2012 IBC 1009.7.5.3(1) the open riser shall not permit passage of a sphere with a diameter of 4-inches. On detail 2/A5.13 for equipment platform, raise stair guard to 42-inches above stair nosing and move intermediate guard rail at stair lower so that no sphere with a diameter of 21-inches can pass through the guard. Ref. 2012 IBC 1013.3 and 1013.4(3). On detail 1/A5.13 for ground to roof stair, raise stair guard to 42-inches above stair nosing and provide intermediate rails to match elevations shown on sheet A5.14 so that no sphere with a diameter of 4-inches can pass through the guard. The stair enclosure as shown on sheet A5.14 may act as the required guard for the outside perimeter of the stair and landing to 25-feet. Ref. 2012 IBC 1013.3 and 1013.4. Add details for ground to roof stair guard and handrail showing vertical dimensions per item 8 above. Add handrail to details 1 -3/A5.13. Handrails shall extend 34-38 inches above stair nosing. Ref. 2012 IBC 1012. In Door Schedule, sheet A6.2, door F0400 is to be a 3-hour fire-rated door assembly. Ref. 2012 IBC 507.5. On sheet S1.1G, indicate footing types for footings D-6.1 and E-6.1. Ref. 2012 IBC 107.2.1 There are conflicts between the spread footing sizes shown in the Spread Footing Design Summary sheets in the structural calculations and those shown in the Footing Schedule. They are as follows: footing L-4 is shown as 10x10x1.5 in the calcs and 12x12x1 in the schedule; footing L-8 is shown as 11x11x2 in the calcs and 10x10x2.5 in the schedule; footing K-8 is shown as 11x11x2 in the calcs and 10x10x2.5 in the schedule, footing P-4 is shown as 13x13x2 in the calcs and 12x12x2 in the schedule. Ref. 2012 IBC 107.2.1 Continuous footings 8, 9, 25, 11, 47, 64, 26, 56, and 28 in the Continuous Foundation Design sheets of the structural calculations are not keyed to the foundation key plan (page 60) in the structural calcs so cannot be reviewed against the Footing (F) Schedule in the drawing set. Ref. 2012 IBC 107.2.1 In the Base Plate Design Summary sheets of the structural calculations (pages 55-56) column sizes are also given. The following column sizes do not match what is shown on the Column (C) Schedule on sheet S4.0: Q-4 is shown in the calcs as W14x53 and as W14x43 in the schedule (C4); L-4 is shown as W33x130 in the calcs and as W33x118 in the schedule (C13); E-8 is shown as W12x58 in the calcs and as W10x60 in the schedule (C3); B-7 is shown as W10x49 in the calcs and W14x43 in the schedule (C4). To prevent recirculation of air from restrooms when the associated air handler is not in operation the air handler supply fan should be set to continuously operate during occupied hours. Ref. 2012 IMC 403.2.1(4). Provide heating and cooling load calculations summary sheets to justify the capacity of selected equipment. Ref. 2012 IECC C403.2.1 and C403.2.2. Use 104-degrees F summer DB outdoor design temperature with 66-degrees F design wet bulb temperature, and 32-degrees F winter DB outside design temperature per City of Tucson amendment to the 2012 IECC. Per IECC C403.2.1 and C403.2.2 “the output capacity of heating and cooling equipment and systems shall not exceed the loads calculated in accordance with Section C403.2.1.” |
