08/18/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. Revise the font size used on the drawings to a minimum of 3/32-inch. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. 2. The 2012 International Mechanical Code with Local Amendments is the relevant code for this project, not the 2009 UMC or the 2010 CMC. 3. Provide energy code compliance calculations for the building envelope; use the climate zone for Tucson. Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation and the SHGC for the fenestration. Reference: Sections C103.2 and C401.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2012. 4. Show how the "Additional Efficiency Package Requirements" noted in COMcheck (C406, IECC 2012) is to be accomplished. Reference: Section C401.2, IECC 2012. 5. Revise the lighting and mechanical COMcheck reports to indicate "new construction", not an addition to an existing building. 6. Provide NFRC fenestration product ratings for the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) on COMcheck or use the appropriate default SHGC from Table C303.1.3 (2), IECC 2012. Coordinate the SHGC values shown on the COMcheck Envelope Compliance Certificate with the window descriptions shown on the drawings (i.e. the required SHGC on the submitted COMcheck is 0.25 but it is "0.40 or lower" on sheet A11.0). Reference: Section C303.1.3, IEC 2012. 7. Provide heating and cooling load calculations that justify the capacities of the heating and cooling equipment specified for the project. Reference: Sections C403.2.1 and C403.2.2, IECC 2012, and Section 312.1, IMC 2012. 8. Coordinate the exhaust fan schedule with the proposed Type I hoods. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. 9. Provide calculations to show how ventilation will be provided for the occupied spaces. Reference: Section 401.2, IMC 2012. |
08/18/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. The reference civil utilities drawing, 3 of 6, is out of date and needs to be replaced with the current version. 2. Revise the font size used on the drawings to a minimum of 3/32-inch. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012. 3. The Minimum Plumbing Fixtures calculation on sheet P-1 appears to be from the UPC. Use the current code (2012 IBC) and coordinate with the architect if this calculation is to be retained. 4. The 2012 International Plumbing Code has been adopted by the City of Tucson. Revise the plumbing design and notes to comply with this code. 5. Provide tempered water for the restroom lavatories using approved devices conforming to ASSE 1070. Verify that the specified mixing valve conforms to ASSE 1070. Reference: Section 607.1.2, IPC 2012. 6. Provide automatic faucets for the restroom lavatories that will be set to dispense a maximum of 0.25 gallons per metering cycle and will operate for a minimum time of 10-seconds. Reference: Section 416.6, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson and Section 606.4, ICC/ANSI A117.1-03. 7. Clarify the note on the water heater detail on sheet P-1 that states in part, "… Discharge outside of building valve outlet to terminate within 18" of grade." Discharge piping for a combination temperature and pressure relief valve shall not have any valves. Reference: Section 504.6 (12), IPC 2012. 8. Appliances (e.g. beverage dispensers, ice makers, etc) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Section 608.13.1, IPC require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 608.1 and 608.3, IPC 2012. 9. Provide separate indirect waste pipes for each compartment of the 3-compartment sink to protect against cross-contamination or fouling. Reference: Sections 801.2 and 802.1.8, IPC 2012. 10. Verify that all of the vents (except for vents serving interceptors located outdoors) rise vertically to at least 6" above the flood rims of the fixtures they protect prior to running horizontally. Reference: Section 905.4, IPC 2012. 11. Provide roof drainage calculations based on the 100-year hourly rainfall rate for Tucson, 3" per hour. One note on sheet P6 states that the roof drain sizes are based on a rainfall rate of 2" per hour and the 2013 CPC while another note on the same sheet states that the calculations are based on a rainfall rate of 4" per hour. Reference: Sections 1106.1, 1106.4, and 1108.3, IPC 2012. 12. Clarify the connected loads or input ratings for each appliance. Southwest Gas, the local gas utility provides natural gas with an energy content of approximately 1,000 BTU per cubic foot, not 1100 BTU per cubic foot as shown in the gas isometric on sheet P8. Reference: Section 402.1, IFGC 2012. 13. Southwest Gas, the local gas utility, provides natural gas at 7" WG, 2 PSIG, and 5 PSIG. Appliances needing gas service at 7" WG or greater will require a gas meter that delivers at least 2 PSIG gas into a regulator located after the meter set. Reference: Section 402.1, IFGC 2012. 14. Correct the size of the gas piping branch serving the four broilers and the rethermalizer as shown in the gas isometric on sheet P8: the total load appears to be 1190 MBH, not 207 MBH. 15. Clarify the termination of the flue for the water heater. Detail 1/P5 shows it terminating above the roof and 8-feet from the parapet wall while the gas plumbing plan calls for the flue to terminate on the west wall of the building. (Clarify also the symbol that is shown located in the northwest corner of the roof on sheet P6, near the intake of the makeup air unit.) |
08/18/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | WATER | REVIEW | Reqs Change | Provide the estimated water demand for this building to verify that the proposed water meter is correctly sized. Tucson Water requires the use of Appendix E, 2012 IPC as the basis for the calculations. |
