01/29/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. The structural drawings indicate a 20-PSF live load was used for the roof design which is equivalent to a 4" water depth. A design head of 3" of water (measures six feet behind the scupper opening) was used to determine the width of the scuppers. The bottom of the overflow scupper is 2-inches above the low point of the roof so the water level would be 5" above the low point of the roof, 6-feet behind the scupper opening. Verify that the use of 3" head for the scupper design does not over-stress the roof structure. Reference: Section 1101.7, IPC 2012. 2. Verify the calculated width of the scuppers. Using the Francis formula and based on a total area of 10,220-square feet and 0.031 GPM/square foot, a scupper at least 20.9" wide is required. |
