| 07/31/2014 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. The specified faucet does not conform to requirements of ASSE 1070. [Initial comment: Provide tempered water for the lavatories and public hand-washing sinks in restrooms using approved devices conforming to ASSE 1070. Reference: Sections 416.5 and 607.1.2, IPC 2012.] 2. At 6.5 GPF and a 1" Type L copper supply, an 18.6 second flush cycle is needed to keep the water velocity less than 8 feet per second. How long is the flush cycle? [Initial comment: Verify that the pipe sizes called out for the flush valve and the bedpan washer for the clinical sink will not result in water velocities greater than that recommended by the pipe manufacturer (e.g. limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for copper, PEX, or CPVC piping) and that the supply pressure to the sink complies with the manufacturer's requirement. Reference: Section 604.3, IPC 2012.] 3. Coordinate the waste and vent isometric with the fixture schedule. On the fixture schedule P13 has a 2" waste and a 1-1/2" vent; P14 has a 3" waste and a 2" vent. The waste and vent isometric now shows P13 with a 3" waste and a 1-1/4" vent; P14 now shows a 4" waste and a 2" vent. Similarly, P1,P 2, P4, P5, P6, P10, P11, P15A, P16, P17, P18, P19, and P23 have inconsistent waste and/or vent sizes. One P3 in room 148 and P7 in room 124 are not labeled on the isometric. Note that the minimum vent size for a 3" waste is 1-1/2". [Initial comment: Install the waste piping for the clinical sink per the manufacturer's requirements (minimum 3", 4" preferred) and coordinate the vent size shown on the fixture schedule with the waste and vent isometric. Reference: Sections 303.2, 422.6, and 704.2, IPC 2012.] |
| 08/01/2014 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. Clarify the source of the CFM/person values used for these calculations - the values do not appear to be from Table 403.3 of the 2012 IMC. 2. Correct the sum of the required exhaust flows for EF-9. 3. Explain why exhaust has not been provided for the staff lockers. 4. Use a zone air distribution effectiveness (Ez) of 0.8 rather than 1.0 (Section 403.3.1.2, IMC 2012). 5. Air handlers that are supplying multiple zones shall use the calculation method shown in Sections 403.3.2.3.1 through 403.3.2.3.4, IMC 2012 to calculate the total amount of outside air to be delivered by the air handler. [Initial comment: Provide calculations demonstrating adequate ventilation using the current code. Reference: Section 403.2, IMC 2012.] |
