09/24/2012 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Coordinate the notes and detail call-outs on the drawings that reference the bathroom and laundry closet exhaust ducts. Keynote #2 on sheets M107 and M108 still calls for sub-ducts and refers to detail 8/M302; and the exhaust ducts on sheets M107 and M108 still appear to be drawn as sub-ducts because they do not extend up through the seventh floor. [Original comment: Detail 8/M302 shows an exhaust duct shaft with a gravity relief hood mounted at the top of the shaft. Show how continuous upward airflow is to be ensured in the exhaust duct shaft. Reference: Section 607.5.5, exceptions 1.1 and 2, IMC 2006. (Note that the exhaust duct shaft serving units 512, 612, and 712 does not appear to be located in the same location as the relief hood on the roof.)]
2. Clarify the type of fans used for the bathroom and laundry closet exhausts; the general notes on M107, M108, and M109 indicate that the bathroom fans are in-line fans and the laundry room fans are rooftop centrifugal fans. Show the location of the fans on the drawing.
3. The exhaust duct configuration you appear to have used requires you to provide a minimum 12" long steel sleeve for each duct penetration of the wall per Section 607.5.3 (3.6), IMC 2006. Show a detail of this penetration.
