05/25/2012 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not addressed; see sheet P3.1. [Original comment: Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipes exceeding 5 feet in length (horizontal drain lines serving sinks and urinals require cleanouts regardless of length). Reference: Section 707.4, UPC 2006.]
2. Comment not resolved; the waste piping for the men's restroom is not coordinated. [Original comment: Coordinate the waste floor plan with the waste and vent isometric; the two drawings show different fixtures, additional floor cleanouts, and different fixture connections to the grease waste and sanitary waste piping.]
3. The waste and vent isometric now shows the wash and rinse compartments with two traps on a single trap arm. See Section 1001.1, UPC 2006. Typically, one of the compartments has a continuous waste connecting to the tailpiece of the adjacent compartment and both compartments then have a single trap and vent. [Original comment: Provide a direct waste connection for the wash and rinse sections of the 3-compartment sink, with an indirect connection for the sanitizing compartment only. Reference: Sections 304.0, 704.3, and 801.2.3, UPC 2006.]
4. Clarify the proposed capacity and installation of the gravity grease interceptor. The civil drawing, UT01, calls for a 1250-gallon unit, sheets P3.2 and P3.4 call out a 1500-gallon unit and the submitted cut sheets are for a 1300-gallon unit. In addition, the calculations shown on sheet P3.4 actually indicate a 1000-gallon interceptor is an acceptable size. No drawings show how the interceptor is to be vented and there is no information regarding the required cleanouts. [Original comment: Provide sufficient information to show that the installation of the proposed gravity grease interceptor complies with the requirements of Sections 1009.0, 1014.1, and 1014.3, UPC 2006. (A note on sheet UT01, Utility Plan, refers to the plumbing sheets for this information.)]
05/25/2012 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied Comment not resolved; the ventilation calculations for units D-1 and P-1 have not used the correct default occupant densities from ASHRAE 62.1-2004 (i.e. "cafeteria/fast food dining" - 100 people/1000 square feet). [Original comment: Section 403.3, IMC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson allows the use of the ASHRAE 62-1-2004 ventilation calculation procedure provided that the default occupant densities and combined outdoor air rates are used.]
