06/29/2010 | DAVE MANN | FIRE | REVIEW | Denied | Two exits required. The 2 in front do not meet the 1/3 the diagonal distance apart required for sprinklered occupancies. Refer to 2006 IFC, section 1015.2.1, exception 2. The rear exit does not meet the criteria because it is unacceptable to exit through a storage area. Additionally, panic hardware is mandatory except at the main entrance, and then it can be deleted if the requirements of 2006 IFC, section 1008.1.8.3, item 2 are met. |
07/02/2010 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The applicable code for all commercial plumbing projects is the 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code with Local Amendments. Provide an approved appeal to the building official if the plans are to be reviewed to the 2006 IPC. 2. Clarify the size of the drain piping at keynote 15, P-1; it is noted as an existing 2" waste pipe but it appears to have been serving the water closet that was removed as part of this activity and thus would have been either a 3" or 4" pipe. In addition, the specified grease interceptor has a 3" inlet which would constitute an obstruction of flow. Reference: Sections 103.2.3 and 311.5, UPC 2006. 3. Provide cleanouts sized per Section 707.11, UPC 2006 (e.g. the 3" grease waste entering the grease interceptor). 4. Clarify the design strategy for grease interception. The "Gravity Grease Interceptor Sizing" calls for a 690 gallon gravity grease interceptor but detail 203/P-3 shows a hydromechanical grease interceptor and a hydromechanical grease interceptor is specified on sheet P-5. Note that the sizing calculations for gravity grease interceptors are to be in accordance to the requirements of Section 1014.3.6, UPC 2006, using the drainage fixture units from Table 7-3, UPC 2006. Reference: Sections 103.2.3 and 1014.0, UPC 2006. |
