Reducing the number of drain pipe size transitions does not eliminate the need for upper terminal cleanouts (e.g. P5 at the west end of room 124 and in room 104, P3 in rooms 121 and 122 (east side), the floor sinks in rooms 128 and 130, P6, and P4). Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipes exceeding 5 feet in length (horizontal drain lines serving sinks and urinals require cleanouts regardless of length). Reference: Section 707.4, UPC 2006. 2. Comment not resolved. The submitted roof drainage calculations and plans do not meet the requirements of Sections 1101.11 and 1106.0, UPC 2006. Specifically, the gutters for roof sections 1 and 3 are too small (assuming a 1/16" slope per foot; at a slope of 1/8" per foot, the gutter for roof section 3 would be adequate but a slope of ½" per foot would be required for a 4"x 4" gutter to be adequate for roof section 1 - see Table 11-3, UPC 2006). Also, the scuppers for roof sections 2 and 5 need to have a minimum width of 9.4" (circumference of a 3" roof drain) - see Table 11-1, UPC 2006. All of the over flows must have the same capacity as the primary drain. Reference: Section 1101.11, UPC 2006. |
