| 03/19/2010 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Coordinate the civil utility drawings with the plumbing plans. The Private Grading and Utility Plan (sheet 1 of 2) calls out a 2" meter and RPBP along with a 1-1/4" water service line to the building. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006. 2. Clarify the gas input to the water heater (WH-1); it is scheduled as 120 MBH input on sheet P1.0 and 199.9 MBH on sheet P5.0. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006. 3. Provide detail 20/A6.0 referenced on detail 2/P6.0 and clarify the illegible clearance dimensions for the termination of the direct vent and the combustion air inlet. 4. Hub drains (key notes 2 and 4, P2.0, key note 9, P5.0, and key note 5, detail 2/P6.0) are not approved for use under the UPC; they do not comply with Sections 411.1 and 804.1, UPC 2006. 5. The branch piping size called out for the urinal flush valve will result in a water velocity greater than 8 FPS. Limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for the copper piping. Reference: Section A 6.1, UPC 2006 and Section 2.6, IS 3-2003. 6. Include the water demand (e.g. ice makers, beverage dispensers, etc.) from the filtered water system with the water calculations. (Note that the restaurant is an assembly occupancy when determining the fixture units for the water closets and the urinal.) Reference: Section 610.1, UPC 2006. 7. Appliances (e.g. coffee makers, ice makers, etc) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or have integral air gaps conforming to Table 6-3, UPC 2006 require backflow prevention. Indicate how backflow protection will be provided for each appliance. Reference: Sections 602.3, 603.0, and Table 6-2, UPC 2006. 8. Provide a direct waste connection for the wash and rinse sections of the 3-compartment sink, with an indirect connection for the sanitizing compartment only. Reference: Sections 304.0 and 801.2.3, UPC 2006. 9. Provide a protecting vent for each fixture (e.g. floor drains). Reference: Section 901.0, UPC 2006. 10. Clarify the need for a vented flow control device for a gravity grease interceptor. Unless the manufacturer of the interceptor requires one, a flow control device in this application would be an obstruction to flow. Reference: Sections 311.5 and 1014.3.3.1, UPC 2006. |
| 03/19/2010 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Specify the minimum resistance (R-value) of the duct insulation to be used on this project. Reference: Section 503.2.7, IECC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. 3. Provide calculations demonstrating adequate ventilation. Reference: Section 401.2, IMC 2006. 4. Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I hood is supported from the building structure (i.e. how do the all-thread rods attach to the building structure) in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2006. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2006. 6. Show that the roof top air-conditioning units supplying make up air for the kitchen hood are electrically interlocked to the exhaust fans.
