10/22/2008 MARTIN BROWN FIRE REVIEW Denied Please include the following design criteria to the plans.
1. Flow data (static pressure, residual pressure, GPM)
Available from the Fire Department (520) 791-3234
2. The standard to be used in development of sprinkler system. (NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, or NFPA 13D)
3. The hazard classification of the building, including any special hazards.
4. The density required of the water supply.
Also, riser detail on sheet P3.2 shows 2" water supply feeding both domestic water and fire sprinkler system. Domestic demand would have to be factored into the hydraulic calculations for the sprinkler system. It is unlikely a 2" supply is adequate for both systems. Please investigate.

11/07/2008 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. The applicable code for all commercial plumbing projects is the 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code with Local Amendments. Provide an approved appeal to the building official if the plans are to be reviewed to the 2006 IPC.
2. Provide plans sealed by an Arizona Registrant (civil plans). Reference: Arizona Revised Statutes 32-125, Board of Technical Registration Rules R4-30-304.
3. Clarify the relationship of the domestic water supply to the building to the building fire protection system. The detail on sheet P3.2 shows the two systems being supplied by the same 2" water service to the building but the utility plan, sheet UT01, shows separate 4" fire water and 2" domestic water supplies.
4. Appliances (e.g. ice makers, etc) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Table 6-3, UPC 2006 require backflow prevention. Reference: Sections 602.3, 603.0, and Table 6-2, UPC 2006.
5. Provide calculations showing how the water supply piping has been sized.
6. Provide the rim elevation of the next upstream sanitary manhole or cleanout. Determine the need for a backwater valve per Section 710.1, UPC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson.
7. Provide sizing information for the rain gutter (details 1/A3.1 and 3/A3.1).
8. Revise the termination of the primary rainwater leaders so that they don't cross over the sidewalk (see also detail 4/SD1). Reference: Section 4.4 F, City of Tucson Development Standard No. 3-01.0.
11/07/2008 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Denied 1. Reduced pressure backflow prevention assemblies for the building water service are required to be installed in locations accessible to Tucson Water. Reference: COT Ordinance 9976, http://www.tucsonaz.gov/water/docs/backflow-ord.pdf
2. Tucson Water limits a 1-1/2" meter to a maximum demand of 50 GPM. Based on the submitted plumbing drawings, it appears that the demand will exceed 50 GPM. Provide a letter from Tucson Water confirming that the use of a 1-1/2" water meter will be allowed for this project. Note that the existing water meter is located on the property line, along Kolb Road.
11/10/2008 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide energy code compliance calculations using the correct climate zone for Pima County (< 4,000 feet, not >= 4,000 feet). Reference: Sections 101.4 and 104.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2006.
2. Provide the installed weight of the rooftop equipment (e.g. exhaust fans and condensing units). Reference: Section 106.3.1, IMC 2006.
3. Coordinate the installed weight of units P-1 (1550 lb) and D-1 (1539 lb) with the structural drawing, S-2.0, which indicates an installed weight of 1350 lb for each. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2006.
4. Show the size, routing, and termination of the condensate drains. Reference: Section 307.2, IMC 2006 and Section 814.0, UPC 2006.

7. Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I hoods are supported from the building structure in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2006. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2006.
8. Show the location of the smoke detectors in the return air duct (upstream of any outside air connections) for all air distribution systems with a capacity greater than 2,000 CFM. Reference: Section 606.1, IMC 2006.
