| 03/02/2006 | LINDA BUCZYNSKI | ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | TRANSMIT ORIGINAL DRAWINGS WITH NEXT SUBMITTAL. PLEASE CALL AT 791-5550 X1106 OR EMAIL AT Linda.Buczynski@tucsonaz.gov IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS. 1. Provide overcurrent protective devices for the new feeders. They have disconnects, but no fuses/breakers are specified. 2. Suggest the use of RK-1 or RK-5 fuses to limit fault current to Router Table and Dust Collector. 3. The feeder for the dust collector, sized at #2, is of ampacity of 115A. This equipment at 54000 VA, would draw 150AFLC, or (150) (1.25) = 187.5A. Reference NEC 430.22 (A). 4. The Electrical Site Plan shows TEP power originating at an existing utility transformer, boring underground to a pole, then coming off the pole to continue underground to the new service. From the TEP available fault current, it is apparent that the final utility transformer is on top of the pole (49,100A for 208/120V 1000A pole top service). However, the service entrance conductor and conduit on the line diagram indicates trenching to TEP pad-mounted transformer. Please clarify intent. If the contractor is to trench directly to the transformer across the roadway, one would question the need of the pole; and the available fault current would be 55,600A at aprox. 140', not 49,100A at 100'. If the point of service is actually from a pole-mounted transformer, one would question why the Contractor would be boring across the road to another TEP transformer. 5. Please note that work in public Right-of-Way needs a Temporary Revocable Easement (TRE). Contact person is Jim Rossi, at COT DOT 791.4001. Electrical Plans Examiner will apply stamp to drawing with instructions for Contractor. 6. Note that "c" values for 250 MCM appears to refer to Aluminum, not Copper conductors. If these feeders are to be of Aluminum, please clarify such on the plans. Otherwise, please re-calculate the fault currents. 7. After Mechanical review comments are corrected, we will give consideration to whether the quantity of dust produced and adequacy of the dust-removal system would warrant a determination that this area may remain unclassified per NEC 500.5 (C) FPN No. 1. |
