05/23/2005 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide information (e.g. manufacturer and model number or the listing information) to show that the make up air unit, EC-1, is listed and labeled. Clarify the note; the overwritten text is undecipherable. Reference Section 301.4, IMC 2000.
2. Comment not resolved. Confirm that the Type I hoods have clearances to combustibles per Section 507.9, IMC 2000. (See the fryer hood)
3. Comment not resolved. Show the mounting weight of the kitchen hoods. If they are to be supported from the roof structure, show the hood locations on the roof framing drawing. Reference Section 302.1, IMC 2000. Note: the pizza oven hood is called out as being 8'-0" x 5'-6" but drawn as 11'-0" x 6'-4".
4. Comment not resolved. Revise the size of the grease ducts to provide a minimum velocity of 1500 feet per minute. The velocity of 500-CFM in a 7"x7" duct is only 1469-FPM. The duct for EF-1 is noted as being 10"x10" in the comment response (4752-FPM @ 3300-CFM) but is called out as being 18"x18" (1467-FPM @ 3300-CFM) on sheet M1. Reference Section 506.3.5, IMC 2000.
5. Comment not resolved. Show that the exhaust fans, EF-1 and EF-5, comply with the requirements of Section 506, IMC 2000 (i.e. how are they constructed?).
6. Comment not resolved. Show that the exhaust hoods for the pizza oven and the fryer comply with the requirements of Section 507, IMC 2000 (i.e. how are they constructed?). Also, no data has been submitted regarding the fryer hood. It is represented as being 4'-6" x 2'-6" on sheet M.1, which would require a flow rate of at least 1125-CFM, not 500 CFM.
05/24/2005 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Show the location of the water connections for the "spray assembly" (and the other water connections noted on sheet A.3) on the water supply isometrics. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994.
2. Provide insulation on the circulating hot water piping per Section 804.5, IECC 2000. Plumbing general note 21 on sheet P.2 calls for ½" of insulation but Section 804.5 calls for 1" on insulation on recirculating hot water.
3. Comment not resolved; without knowing the nature of the appliances (e.g. the spray assembly), the proper backflow preventer might not be selected. Appliances to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps may require reduced pressure principle backflow preventers. Please submit equipment sheets of the appliances for determination and specify the make and model of the proposed backflow device or assembly. Reference Section 603.0, UPC 1994.
4. The proposed design of the roof scuppers does not address the requirement to provide for independent overflow capacity if the primary roof drains are not operational. Reference Appendix D, UPC 1994 and Sections 1611.1, IBC 2003.

05/31/2005 PETER MCLAUGHLIN ZONING REVIEW Denied 1. Zoning has reviewed the building plans but cannot approve them at this time. Zoning will re-review and approve the building plans on the next submittal providing the stamped and approved site plans are included with the building plan package.
