| 08/20/2004 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Revise the scuppers; the minimum height for a scupper is 4" and if the scupper and overflow are to be combined, the minimum required area is four times the minimum required area for a roof drain. 2. Provide a design for the gas piping. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994. 3. Provide a design for the compressed air piping. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994. 4. Provide a site drawing showing the size and route of the building water supply along with the location and size of both the water meter and the reduced pressure backflow preventer assembly. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994. 5. Provide site drawing showing the size, route, and slope of the building sewer. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994. 6. Provide the rim elevation of the next upstream sanitary manhole and the first floor elevation. Determine the need for a backwater valve per Section 710.1, UPC 1994. 7. Verify the water pressure used for the calculations. 8. Include all fixtures and the water requirements of the evaporative coolers when calculating the total demand and determining pipe sizes. Reference Section 610.1, UPC 1994. 9. Confirm that the suspended water heater complies with the access requirements of section 511.0, UPC 1994 with AZ State amendments. 4. Provide listing information for the water heater. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994. 10. If the specified water heater is not supplied with integral heat traps, provide heat traps on the supply and discharge piping along with ½" insulation on the first eight feet of supply and discharge piping. Reference Sections 804.4 and 804.5, IECC 2000. 11. Provide calculations to show that the exposed water pipes on the roof are adequately protected from freezing. Reference Section 313.6, UPC 1994. 12. Show how the condensate from the air compressor is to be handled. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994. 13. PLEASE CALL AT 791-5550 X1106 OR EMAIL AT Linda.Buczynski@tucsonaz.gov IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS. 1. Lighting Fixture Schedule indicates that Fixture F is to be powered line-to-line at 208V. Lighting Plan indicates 1-pole circuiting for such fixtures. Please clarify. Revise panel schedules as necessary. 2. Please provide cut sheets for Lighting Fixture D. Demonstrate that such fixture is listed for a damp location. 3. Provide description/specifications for ceiling fan. 4. It appears that the intent is to include the exhaust fans on Circuit B-4. If so, the VA count would be 1256, not 1122. Please clarify. 5. Plumbing Fixture Specifications call for 120V Water Heater. Electrical plans have this equipment on Ckt B-38,40, 208v. Please coordinate with Plumbing and clarify. 6. Provide fused disconnect for overhead doors. 7. It appears that HP-1 and HP-2 are fused high for overload protection. Please add a note: "Provide overload protection per manufacturer's requirements." Note that it appears inconsistent that these heat pumps are protected by a 35A fuse at the disconnect and a 20A circuit breaker at the panel. 8. Provide power for RAL-1 and RAL-2. See Mechanical equipment schedule and plans. 9. Provide overcurrent protection for Panel A and Panel B feeders. 10. For IRH-2 and IRH-2, there is a need for not just ignition, but also exhaust power per Bob Sherry, Mechanical Plans Examiner. Please coordinate with Mechanical plans and clarify. 11. Since the repair area has been designated as Class I Division 2, the plans would need to be sealed by a Registered Electrical Engineer. The Electrical Plans Examiner, on subsequent submittal, would verify compliance with all requisite NEC and NFPA requirements. However, the National Electrical Code provides an exception to 511.3 (B) (1) which permits an area to be considered as unclassified if the enforcing agency determines that there is mechanical ventilation providing a minimum of one cubic foot per minute for each square foot of such area. Such ventilation shall provide for air exchange within 12" of the floor. The requirements of the Mechanical Plans Examiner, Bob Sherry, refer to the 2000 IMC, 403.3, which call for 1 ½ CFM/FT2. This exceeds the requirement in the Exception cited above. Applicant may, at his discretion, consider this area to be unclassified per the above if such reference is removed from the electrical plans, and if the dimension on the Mechanical Floor Plan Sheet M1.0 is modified from "DN TO 12" AFF" to read "WITHIN 12" AFF." |
