SUMMARY: Engineering Section has reviewed the drainage report and floodplain use permit applications received on February 10, 2003. Floodplain approval is not recommended at this time. Please address the following comments prior to resubmittal:

DRAINAGE REPORT:

1. Correct the soil types to reflect predominantly type D -" Cave soils and urban land", and revise hydrologic and retention volume calculations, and any other calculations that may be affected, as necessary.

2. Provide an outlet weir detail, fully dimensioned and labeled.

3. Discuss the method in which the percolation tests were performed and provide test locations and elevations. Address whether the rates achieved were stabilized rates, and correct the maximum allowed time of disposal to 12 hours for contributing drainage areas of less than 10 acres, per Pima County/City of Tucson Stormwater Retention/Detention Manual, section 3.5.1

4. Include all basin maintenance responsibility items in accordance with the requirements listed in The City of Tucson Standards Manual for Drainage Design and Floodplain Management (SMDDFM), section 2.3.1.2 E. Please provide recording information for the basin maintenance requirements and the legal description of the easement, or covenants describing such. The recording information shall specify that said requirements would run with the land.

5. Please note that the floodplain use permit must be issued prior to approving the lot-split exception. A condition of the Floodplain use permit will be certification of the construction of the basin by a registered engineer.

6. Either an access easement or a covenant specifying access into the basin shall be included. Show access location and label access slope to be no steeper than 15% (SMDDFM, sec 14.3).
