| 12/01/2003 | Robert Sherry | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Provide calculations demonstrating adequate ventilation. Reference Section 401, IMC 2000. 2. Coordinate the exhaust flow rates for EF-1 as shown on sheet M1 with the capacity of EF-1 as shown on sheet M2. 3. What is the purpose of relief hoods RH-1 and RH-2? They do not appear to be able to relieve air from the classrooms unless the ceiling tiles lift up. 4. How is the outside air being relieved from rooms 112 and 113? 5. A Type I Hood is required over the ranges in the kitchen. Reference Section 507.2.2 IMC. |
| 12/01/2003 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Provide fixture descriptions for all plumbing fixtures Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994. 2. If the specified water heater is not supplied with integral heat traps, provide heat traps on the supply and discharge piping along with ½" insulation on the first eight feet of supply and discharge piping. Reference Section 704.4, IECC 1998. 3. Appliances to be directly connected to the water supply system (e.g. ice maker) that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps may require reduced pressure principle backflow preventers. Please submit equipment sheets for determination. Reference Section 603.0, UPC 1994. 4. Coordinate CW piping to the buildings with the civil plans. 5. The plans indicate that the CW supplies to the two new buildings are tapping into the CW supply to the existing three buildings. Provide calculations to show that the existing piping and water meter can accommodate the added demand. Reference Section 610.1, UPC 1994. 6. Include the demand for the four water supply outlets (located in the kitchen of building 5) and the hot water demand for building 4 in the demand calculations for building 5. Reference Section 610.1, UPC 1994. 7. Provide HW shut off valves for the entrance to building 4. Reference Section 605.3, UPC 1994. 8. Provide indirect waste receptor for Ice Machine. Reference Section 801.2, UPC 1994. |

| 12/04/2003 | Martin Haeberle | BUILDING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Classrooms are indicated on plans and an A-3 is indicated as the occupancy classification and occupant load factor. Please clarify 2. A substitution for one-hour construction is being used by installing a fire sprinkler system. Code analysis sheet indicates sprinklers are not being installed. Please clarify. 3. Allowable area calculations do not include existing buildings. Show how compliance with Tables 601 & 602 is achieved. 4. Plumbing fixture schedule uses a ratio for a church but plans indicate the use as classrooms. Clarify use and revise plans to indicate compliance with Chapter 29 IBC 5. Provide listings for one-hour rated exterior walls. Reference detail 203 sheet S6. 6. Intermediate handrails are required at the stairs. Reference section 1003.3.3.11.1 IBC 7. Provide a guardrail at amphitheater seating adjacent to building. Reference section 1003.2.1.2 IBC 8. Indicate panic hardware to be installed on doors exit doors of meeting rooms. Reference section 1003.3.1.9 IBC 9. Civil drawings indicate a retaining wall. Does not indicate if existing or proposed. If proposed, provide details and calculations of the wall. 10. Provide calculations for amphitheater steps addressing surcharge of post footings. 11. Level 1 masonry inspection to be done by the special inspector. Revise general comment. |
| 12/08/2003 | Linda Buczynski | ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | TRANSMIT ORIGINAL DRAWINGS WITH NEXT SUBMITTAL. PLEASE CALL AT 791-5550 X1106 OR EMAIL AT LBUCZYN1@CI.TUCSON.AZ.US IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS. Sheet E1 1. Show the routing of the feeder to Panel C2. Show the location of the fused disconnect to Panel C2, and demonstrate compliance with NEC 225-32. Sheet E2 1. Please specify that Fixture D2 is waterproof. Request a copy of the cut sheet as well. Sheet E3 1. On the north side of the south building, Circuit C1-24,26 is actually C1-34,36. Please modify as necessary. 2. Range/ovens are 4600 VA on Kitchen Equipment Schedule, but 8000 VA on KIT-6,8 and KIT-2,4. Please clarify. If 4600 VA is correct, the Overcurrent Protection is over-sized per NEC 422-11 (e) (3). 3. Ice machine and coffee machine are both listed on KIT-22. The circuit loading does not account for this total. Please clarify. 4. It appears that the Overcurrent Protection for the Water Heater on C1-39,41 should be 15A, as opposed to 20A, per NEC 422-(e) (3). Sheet E5 1. The Load Calculations for Panel KIT appear to be in error. Kitchen equipment was taken at 35%, whereas per NEC Table 220-20 the demand factor for 6 or more pieces of non-residential kitchen equipment is 65%. On the panel schedule, the figures on the 65% Kitchen Equipment row need to be added to, not subtracted from, the other loads, as they represent 65% of to connected kitchen equipment load. Please rework the calcs on this panel and those for the service entrance. 2. Please delete the #6 ground on the load side of the service disconnect, as it creates a redundant path to ground. Comment effects two runs. 3. Per NEC 250-122, and the Table the Equipment Grounding Conductor shall be sized for the Overcurrent Device ahead of the equipment/device. Thus a 400A CB requires a #3 GND. Comment effects four runs. 4. Suggest a double check on fault calculations. My check on I-1 comes to 9,031A at the service disconnect, if the 55,600 AFC from TEP is correct. If this is the case, there may not be a need for the series rating specified in Note B. |
