| 12/03/2003 | STANTEC | 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | SCOPE OF REVIEW: The scope of this review covers Architectural, Structural, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittal provided. All portions of the project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval. GENERAL: q Plans and specifications require review and approval by the Pima County Health Department prior to submission to the Building Department for their review and approval [1996 Spa/Pool Code Sec. 703(a)]. Please submit 2 copies of the Health Department approved set for review and approval. q Provide a note on the plans (suggest Sheet C1.4) that indicates that the engineered drawings for the slide shall be submitted as a deferred submittal [2000 IBC Sec. 106.3.4.2]. Drawings must be signed, dated and wet-sealed by an engineer who is registered in Arizona. Also, the Architect/Engineer of Record shall indicate on the submit that the documents have been reviewed and have been found to be in general conformance with the design. q Coordinate between the architectural and plumbing drawings the shower areas relative to accessibility. The architectural drawings allude to all showers being accessible; the plumbing drawings do not. ARCHITECTURAL: q Windows in Elevations "A" and "B" on Sheet A2.3 require safety glazing on the lower panels. These panels are considered in a hazardous location [2000 IBC Sec. 2406.2, Item 7]. Please identify on the plans. q Please clarify the accessibility within the Men's and Women's areas. Specifically, the following items are unclear: · Shower and toilet grab bar heights, lengths, and locations. Grab bars are shown inconsistently on the plans and not elevations [ANSI A117.1-1998 Sec. 604.8.4 and 608.3]. · Wheelchair turning space [ANSI A117.1-1998 Sec. 304.3.1]. · Clear floor or ground spaces at the urinal, lavatories, and showers [ANSI A117.1-1998 Sec. 305, 605.3, 606.2, and 608.2]. · Clearance for wheelchair accessible toilet compartments [ANSI A117.1-1998 Sec. 604.8.1]. · Heights and clearances at lavatories [ANSI A117.1-1998 Sec. 606]. q Accessibility at the entry points to the Men's and Women's areas is inadequate. Check the clear width at the tight turns (180 degree turns); there needs to be 48" at this point and not 38" as provided [ANSI A117.1-1998 Sec. 403.5.1]. STRUCTURAL: q Provide a City of Tucson special inspection certificate for the following items [2000 IBC Sec. 1701]: · Masonry · Field Welding MECHANICAL: q There are no mechanical comments to be addressed. PLUMBING: q Please identify the sizes of the underground vent and vent-thru-roof for fixture P-5A at the Men's locker area. ELECTRICAL: q Has the bonding of the reinforcing steel of the pool shell been addressed [1999 NEC Art 680-22(a)(1)]? Please indicate. Also, the same question applies to the bonding of the steel pool stairs, handrails, and metal water/fountain features within the pool [1999 NEC Art 680-22(a)(3)]? q What happens to the one K1 pole fixture in the event that Alternate #1 Slide is exercised? Is it eliminated, relocated or mounted on the slide? Please clarify. -End of Review- |
