SUBJECT: Engineering review of the Canterbury Ranch Closure Documentation
ACTIVITY #: (S02-052) T03BU02430-R as-built closure documentation

SUMMARY: Closure documentation was received by Engineering on January 23, 2009. Development Services Department Engineering Division does not recommend approval of the grading closure documentation until the following comments are addressed:

COMMENTS:
North area:
1) Clean out debris from pipe outlet at east entrance of north basin.
2) Remove trash and debris from basin & east channel areas at north basin.
3) Remove vegetation in the weir-channel at top north edge of north basin.

East area:
4) Install cut-off wall for east spillway system per approved grading plan.
5) Provide erosion control for rivulets on south bank that is eroding. If rip rap is used it shall be with filter fabric or grouted.
6) Trim/remove vegetation at location of cut-off walls.
7) Remove trash & vegetative debris in east channel system.
8) Graffiti was noted on gunite side slopes of east channel system.

West area:
9) The submitted document with elevations needs clarification; provide As-built clarifying locations of elevations for west basin area using approved grading plan, at minimum submit the sheet(s) that pertain to the west basin. Include high point in pavement north of west basin inlet.
10) Remove trash & vegetative debris from basin area & drop inlet structure at west basin outlet area.
11) See photos from recent rain event showing standing water for several days. Basin drain down time appears to not have been achieved. Re-engineering of basin or other solution required.

After field items have been addressed and inspected, please submit response letter and rest of document package with as-built of grading plan sheets pertaining to item 9. For questions, call me at 837-4934.
