A. Use of Drought-Tolerant Vegetation
1. Except as otherwise provided by this section, all plant material used for landscaping must be selected from the Arizona Department of Water Resource's Low Water Use/Drought Tolerant Plant List.
2. Oasis Allowance
3. An oasis is an area where non-drought tolerant landscaping designs are permitted. Plants not listed on the Arizona Department of Water Resource's Low Water Use/Drought Tolerant Plant List may be used in an oasis if the plants are grouped in separately programmed irrigation areas according to their water requirements. The location and maximum area on a site that may be used for oasis areas, including those located in a street landscape border, is determined as follows.
Equal to, but not more than, 2.5% of the site.
Provide Oasis calculations for areas with Non-Drought-Tolerant Vegetation.
Canopy Trees in Vehicular Use Areas According to Re-zoning case and
a. General Standards
Within a vehicular use area, one canopy tree is required for each four motor vehicle parking spaces or fraction thereof.
(1) The canopy trees must be evenly distributed throughout the vehicular use area. Every parking space must be located within 40 feet of the trunk of a canopy tree (as measured from the center of the tree trunk).
Canopy Tree
A woody plant, other than a palm tree, with a mature crown diameter of at least 15 feet and having a trunk that, at maturity, is kept clear of leaves and branches at least six feet above grade.

Note: Palm Trees are not considered a canopy trees.

The following information must be provided on the plans:

Square footage of the vehicular use area; number of parking spaces, including the required and provided parking space calculations; and the calculation of the required number of canopy trees.
