Reviewer: H. Thrall (Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov & Justin.Eder@tucsonaz.gov)

Codes: Unified Development Code (7A) Sign Standards, National Electrical Code (NEC) 600, Tucson-Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code (IBC) 2018

1. UDC
A) The sign area and signs proposed are within code allowances. Add following items for permit record.

2. NEC: No comments, thank you
3. OLC: No comments, thank you

4. IBC:
A) add note clarify HOW the individual raised letters on the pole sign are mounted to the faces (i.e sizes types typical number of screws) Not addressed
B) appears welding at top and bottom cradles in the diagrams shown - see mark ups in blue – is this shop welding?
C) engineering provided does not match the elevation view diagram with the pipe size being reduced in diameter inside the cabinet – see mark ups in red on your elevation sheet - and see that the engineering pipe is 5.56” diameter full pipe length
D) there’s a note under the freestanding sign that indicates “cabinet and pole cover to be welded to steel pole supports at the internal steel pole guide”. This partially makes sense. Please add a note that the cabinet is shop welded. Please remove reference to welding this aluminum skirt, as that infers on site field welding, which needs a special inspection. That does not seem the case here. Most pole “skirts” are usually riveted… add not to clarify.
E) A325 bolts are high strength - engineer needs to appoint a special inspector for high strength bolts and fill out the special inspection form. Staff will email it to you.
