05/04/2023 | Signs | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | RE: non-illum monument sign alterations / new courtyard monument (illum) For: Synergy Plaza / 2959 N Swan Rd Permit: TS-PRM-0423-00281 Reviewer: H. Thrall ( Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov) Date: 5/4/23 Codes: Unified Development Code (UDC 7A) Sign Standards, National Electrical Code (NEC) 600, Tucson-Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code (IBC) 2018 1. UDC: A) provide full location (entire shopping center) on aerial B) provide full frontage for Swan Road for this center (approx 473') C) note the locations of the existing freestanding signs here along Swan Road D) understood the desire is to alter the existing sign structure at the north entry, add the setback for this sign structure to the map, has to be 20' minimum for a monument sign. If it is not a 20' setback, the sign face design will have to be modified so that the lettering and panels sit a full 2 feet above the ground and will be a low-profile freestanding sign category (which allows a lesser setback than 20') This has to be treated as a new sign for review purposes with the removal of lettering and addition of new lettering / panel layout, hence the setback requested. E) just list sign area for one side for a double -faced sign, thank you F) understood the new freestanding sign for "the patio" is a courtyard sign, just provide approximate setback from the Swan Road for location purposes, the sign area is ok for the proposed sign, as is the height. Thank you. G) add a note for Sign A to be setback a minimum of 2' from adjacent driveway curb and 5' from any fire hydrants 2. NEC / OLC: A) note that electrical provided by others via separate permit B) indicate timer will shut off the sign by midnight C) add a lock out to this sign for safety purposes - highly accessible area for pedestrians (kids) D) note the volts, amps, circuits E) add note that dedicated sign circuit shall be provided and labeled at breaker panel or power box (indicate where for inspection purposes) F) add a note sign shall be UL or MET G) add note that sign shall have UL, manufacturer and installer stickers on it 3) IBC: A) clarify type of metal the support posts are (i.e. steel) B) provide typical number of bolts / saddles for the sign to mount to the poles Please let me know if you have any questions. Please email me when you have resubmitted and I'll grab the resubmitted plans quickly. |
