Additionally, please submit complete copies of all permit documents (i.e. plans, calculations, reports, etc.) even if they have not been changed. I can be reached at email mark.masek@tucsonaz.gov 1. Please provide structural engineering calculations and a detailed anchoring pattern for the proposed pan channel letters. The submittal must demonstrate that the chosen fasteners (type, size, and quantity) are sufficient to resist wind and dead loads per 2024 IBC Chapter 16. Please provide the following specific information with the next submittal. Specific Requirements related to above. IBC 107.2.7 2. Anchoring Pattern: Provide an elevation view for a typical letter showing the exact location and spacing of all fasteners. 3. Calculations: Include calculations for the worst case (largest/heaviest) letter, addressing: A. Wind Load: Calculated based on the local design wind speed as amended. B. Dead Load: Weight of the sign, including internal components (LEDs, transformers). C. Substrate Capacity: Verify the capacity of the fasteners (e.g., expansion anchors, lag bolts, or toggle bolts) when installed into the specific wall substrate (brick, stucco, wood, etc.). 3. Fastener Specifications: Clearly identify the fastener material (must be corrosion-resistant), diameter, and minimum embedment depth. 4. Please amend plans to show the height to the top of each sign as Sign anchors for signs over 30ft above grade to include all types (concrete anchors, epoxy, thru-bolts etc) will require a special inspection. IBC 107.2.1 Additionally, if applicable provide the City of Tucson Special Inspection Certificate(s) with Parts A and B completed with the next submittal. This letter reflects comments to be addressed. Additional comments may be provided in subsequent reviews. Code reference: Unified Development Code, Article 7A: Sign Standards, adopted Outdoor Lighting Code, adopted Building Code. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. Tami.Goltz@tucsonaz.gov or 520-837-5049. 1) Please provide the street frontage on the site plan for this site so that allowed square footage can be calculated. 2) Provide the specific size and number of lag bolts being used to mount the sign to the wall. 3) Show overall height of sign from grade to top of sign. Signs over 30’ in height from grade to bottom of sign require sealed engineering. 4) The follow exact copy language needs to be added to the drawings: ⦁ All signs and power supply components are UL listed. ⦁ All signs shall have UL sticker, manufacturer sticker and installer sticker, located on the exterior of the sign for inspections. ⦁ All dedicated sign circuits shall be labeled. ⦁ A safety lock out shall be provided for all signs where the shut off switch is not directly visible to the sign. |
