The project area falls within a City of Tucson Archaeological Sensitivity Zone. However, the work appears as if it is only using ground-penetrating radar, and not disturbing the ground at the work site. So long as no ground disturbance in the work area occurs, the waiver is appropriate Therefore the requirement for clearance per A.D. 1.07-7 is waived. However, if any archaeological materials are encountered during construction, all ground disturbing activities must cease in the immediate vicinity of the discovery, and the Tucson Historic Preservation Office must be contacted to assess the find. Be prepared to provide a copy of this letter to intake staff when submitting the project for a permit. This review is for the TR-ROW-0724-00794 project only and does not provide blanket clearance for the property. If additional work is planned for this area, please submit a new request to the Historic Preservation Office. |
