The riser height appears to exceed the maximum allowable height for a ships ladder. Please revise the plans accordingly and provide complete riser and tread dimensions on the drawings for verification. Per IBC Section 1011.15.2 (Treads of Ships Ladders), ships ladders are required to have a minimum tread depth of 5 inches. The tread must be projected such that the combined dimension of the tread depth and nosing projection is not less than 8½ inches. The maximum permitted riser height is 9½ inches. Please contact me if you have any questions about these comments.
