02/26/2025 | Commercial Mechanical | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | The revised ventilation calculations address only the dining area (486 square feet). Ventilation shall be provided for the whole suite. If you wish to calculate the required ventilation for the suite, you will need to consider the different ventilation requirements for the various areas per Section 403.3.1.1.2.3, IMC 2018. Note that the “Service/Storage” area is not a storage area and the back kitchen is not open to the rest of the suite. Also, your makeup air calculation for the suite is incorrect; the recirculation of air within the suite does not affect the air balance for the total suite. Unless the suite is being inflated like a balloon, air in will equal air out. [Second comment: Ventilation is required for all occupied areas. Revise the calculations to determine the required ventilation for the suite. See Section 403.3.1.1.2.3, IMC 2018 to learn how to calculate the ventilation for multiple zone recirculation systems.] [Initial comment: The occupant load used to calculate the required ventilation is not necessarily the same as the occupant load used for calculating exiting requirements. The occupant load used for calculating the minimum required ventilation is to be based on Table 403.3.1.1, IMC 2018 or an approved engineering analysis of the specific occupancy type. Reference: Section 403.3.1.1, IMC 2018.] | ||
