05/21/2024 Commercial Mechanical REQUIRES RESUBMIT 1. The occupant load used to calculate the required ventilation is not necessarily the same as the occupant load used for calculating exiting requirements. The occupant load used for calculating the minimum required ventilation is to be based on Table 403.3.1.1, IMC 2018 or an approved engineering analysis of the specific occupancy type. Reference: Section 403.3.1.1, IMC 2018.
2. The Ez value for a heat pump supplying warm air from the ceiling and with a ceiling return can be 1.0 because the supply air is between 85°F and 92°. See footnote (f), Table 403.3.1.1.1.2, IMC 2018.
3. Provide an exhaust fan for the Type I hood that complies with Section 506.5.1, IMC 2018 and is listed and labeled for the application (i.e. UL 762). The fan discharge shall not impinge onto the roof. Reference: Sections 506.5 and 506.5.3, IMC 2018.
05/21/2024 Commercial Plumbing REQUIRES RESUBMIT 1. Revise the Code Information boxed note on P2 to refer to the City of Tucson Amendments instead of the City of Phoenix Amendments.
2. Revise the “2012 IECC Compliance Notes” on P2 to reference the 2018 International Energy Compliance Code.
3. Verify that the Pima County Health Department will not require the addition of a hand sink in the kitchen. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2018.
4. Provide a floor drain or floor sink for the ice maker as required by the manufacturer of the appliance. Reference: Section 303.2, IPC 2018.
5. The specified grease interceptor model (Zurn GT2701-70) does not appear on the Zurn web site. Verify that this model is still listed by a third-party certification agency as complying with the relevant standards. Reference: Section 303.4, IPC 2018.
6. If the 3-compartment sink is used only for washing, rinsing, and sanitizing utensils used for food service, the sink shall drain indirectly to the grease interceptor with an air gap or an air break. If, however, the 3-compartment sink is also used for the preparation of food items, separate indirect waste pipes shall be provided for each compartment to protect against cross-contamination or fouling and each indirect drain shall terminate with an air gap. Reference: Sections 801.2, 802.1.1, and 802.1.7, IPC 2018.
7. The indirect waste pipe for the vegetable prep sink shall discharge independently to a waste receptor. Reference: Section 802.1.1, IPC 2018.
8. The specified type of hydromechanical grease interceptor (Zurn GT2701) requires the installation of an external flow control device. Show how the flow control device is to be installed and accessible for maintenance. Reference: Sections 303.2 and 1003.2, IPC 2018.
9. The Zurn GT2701 type of grease interceptor with a flow rate of 35 GPM and a capacity of 70 pounds of grease has a 4” inlet and outlet. The waste & vent isometric shows a 2-1/2” outlet pipe. Any fitting or connection in a drainage system that results in a reduction of the pipe area is prohibited. Reference: Section 706.2, IPC 2018.
10. Hand sinks (SK-1) in the kitchen are allowed to connect to the sanitary waste system instead of the grease waste system (e.g. bypassing the grease interceptor) only if each sink has a sign posted above it stating, “HANDWASH SINK ONLY! NO FOOD PREPARATION OR DISHWASHING ALLOWED.” Reference: Section 1003.3, IPC 2018, as amended by the City of Tucson.
