The architect shows the kitchen area to be in excess of 500 square feet. Based on 100 square feet per cooking appliance (TurboChef oven, 2 microwave ovens), an exhaust flow rate of at least 210 CFM is required. [Initial comment: EF-3 appears to be providing general room exhaust for the kitchen. General room exhaust is required for cooking appliances that do not require the installation of a Type I or a Type II hood. The minimum exhaust rate for this application is 0.70 CFM per square foot, using a minimum area of 100 square feet for each individual appliance. What is the basis for the exhaust flowrate for EF-3? [Initial comment: Clarify the purpose of the backflow preventer, BFP-1, If it is intended to protect the municipal water distribution system from the water use in the building, it must be installed in a location accessible to Tucson Water, typically adjacent to the utility water meter. Reference: Chapter XXVII, Article V, Section 27-72, the Tucson Code, https://www.tucsonaz.gov/files/sharedassets/public/city-services/tucson-water/water-quality/documents/backflow-ordinance.pdf.]. 2. The mop sink and prep sink are discharging to sanitary waste. They are required to discharge to the grease interceptor. [Initial comment: Coordinate the waste plumbing plan, 2/P2-01, with the overall plumbing plan, 1/P2-01 by including all of the proposed plumbing fixtures. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2018.] 3. Clarify the installation of the grease interceptor. Detail 3/P1-01 shows it located below the floor, keynote 2 on P2-01 calls for it to be above the floor, and the Overall Plumbing plan shows it located below the restroom wall.
