02/14/2024 | External Reviewers - SAFEBuilt | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | Structural(S) Reviewer Madeline Nelson mnelson@safebuilt.com Denied Reason: Date Completed : 2/13/2024 11:51:41 PM 1. GENERAL - UPDATES: For project updates, please submit sheets with all changes clearly marked in revision clouds. Please provide a written response to each comment; updates without a clear response to all comments may not be reviewed. If you have any questions regarding the comments, you may contact me directly. Updates may result in additional comments. 2. S100 - WIND DESIGN DATA: Per the 2018 International Building Code, Section 1603.1.4.5, construction documents shall indicate "design wind pressures and their applicable zones with dimensions to be used for exterior component and cladding materials... [expressed] in pounds per square foot." These design values should be used by the specialty engineer for the design of the prefabricated canopies shown on plan. 3. S101 - MISSING INFORMATION: Detail 112 on Sheet S101 provides minimum splice lengths for reinforcement in 2,500 and 3,000 psi concrete. Per the general notes, all slabs-on-grade and stem walls shall be 4,000 psi concrete. Please provide splice information for reinforcement in 4,000 psi concrete. 4. S400 - MISSING INFORMATION: In Detail 406, please specify the minimum concrete thickness and reinforcement for slabs-on-grade located at the dock levelers. 5. S400 - CONFIRM DESIGN: Details 407, 408 and 410 call out the prefabricated metal building columns secured with anchor bolts with embedment lengths "per schedule". The Typical Anchor Bolt Schedule, Detail 125 on Sheet S102, calls for a vertical embedment of 7" to 12", depending on the anchor bolt diameter. By inspection, the foundation details show anchor bolts with much longer embedments. Confirm that the embedments in Detail 125 are intended to be used at the pre-engineered metal building columns. 6. GENERAL - DEFERRED SUBMITTALS REQUIREMENTS (For Record Only): The engineer has indicated that the pre-engineered metal building and the prefabricated steel stairs shall be submitted as a deferred design. Please note that IBC Section 107.3.4.1 requires deferred submittals to be approved by the building official. The IBC further requires the following procedure be followed when permitting deferred submittals: i. All submittals shall first be reviewed by design professional in responsible charge. ii. Design professional shall affix a notation that the deferred items are in general conformance with their design of the building. iii. They shall then be submitted for review by the building official. iv. No structural elements shall be installed until approved by building official.
