#26-0592 - Tucson - Zone 202 Project Scope & Overview Total Estimated Linear Feet (Excavation/Bore): 12,481 feet Serviceable Locations 231 Installation of new fiber-optic infrastructure within the City of Tucson public right-of-way (ROW) to support local telecommunications and high-speed broadband expansion. Construction activity includes underground conduit installation, vault/handhole placement, fiber placement, overhead pole attachment where applicable, and site restoration. Detailed Work Plan Underground Excavation & Installation Directional Boring (Trenchless): Placement of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) conduit via horizontal directional drilling (HDD) to minimize surface disruption. Open Trenching / Micro-Trenching: Excavation for conduit installation where directional boring is not feasible. All trenching and backfill will strictly adhere to City of Tucson Chapter 25 Code, Standard Details, and D.S. 3-03 Pavement Cut Requirements. City of Tucson Structures: Installation of flush-to-grade composite underground vaults and handholes at designated splice locations and lateral tie-ins. Aerial Operations (If Applicable) Attachment of fiber optic cable and strand to existing utility poles in accordance with signed pole attachment agreements and City requirements. No remaining on abandoned poles. City of Tucson Traffic Control & Safety Implementation of temporary traffic control, lane closures, or sidewalk detours in full compliance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), City Code Chapter 25, and approved City of Tucson Department of Transportation & Mobility (DTM) Barricade and Excavation Permits. City of Tucson Utility Coordination & Underground Safety Pre-construction utility locates will be coordinated through Arizona 811. Work occurring near Tucson Water infrastructure will maintain required horizontal clearances and comply with Tucson Water Distribution Design guidelines. Restoration & Site Clean-Up All impacted asphalt, concrete, sidewalks, curbs, ADA ramps, and landscaping will be restored to original or better condition per City of Tucson standard details. Asphalt patches will meet City pavement cut restoration standards.
