11/20/2014 | FIRE - ALARM FINAL | CSCHULTZ | Approved | This permit was pulled for replacing an old fire alarm panel that they could not get parts for, all other devices such as horns/strobes, tamper, water flow, fire pump stayed the same. Approved plans state this is a class "A" wiring but when tested with wiring take apart on the first floor we lost all devices on other floors make this a class "B" wiring therefore will need to wire alarm system to a class "A" or will need as bults showing system is wired as a class "B". Tested pulls, smokes, tampers and water flows passed. Two problems did show up - a switch in the fire pump control panel was put into the off position and nothing showed on the alarm panel we almost left the property with the pump off. 2nd problem was on 4th floor could not hear the horns with ear plugs in need to complete a decibel test on all floors and make sure the following is met in IFC 907.5.2.1.1 : Average sound pressure. The audible alarm notification appliances shall provide a sound pressure level of 15 decibels (dBA) above the average ambient sound level or 5 dBA above them maximum sound level having a duration of a least 60 seconds, whichever is greater, in every occupiable space within the building. |
