| TR-ROW-0126-00076 | In review | 01/22/2026 | N/A | Right-of-Way (ROW) | The reason we will need to replace approximately 15 ft of sewer mainline from the edge of sidewalk to the middle of the street is due to the fact that the rest of the mainline is compromised by roots. The roots are so thick it folded the pipe in half from underneath it. Originally the bid was to replace 12 ft but I decided to replace approximately 20 ft altogether. We tried to tunnel 3 ft under sidewalk past the 50 ft mark and the pipe was still folded in half and it’s too dangerous to be tunneling. That is the reason why we wed to cut open the street to connect to a solid piece of pipe. First we will begin by putting the barricades up to control the traffic for everyone’s safety in the neighborhood. Once the traffic is controlled and we have all our safety procedures up we will then begin to cut the asphalt. We will make a cut of approximately 2 1/2 ft x 15 ft from the edge of the sidewalk to the middle of the city street. We will have to dig to the main sewer line in order to expose it and see it conditions, so that we may connect back to the city keys main sewer line. After the main sewer line has been dug up we will begin to connect our pipe from where we left off. We will gradually drop as we get closer to the sewer main. Once we are connected we will then bed the pipe with pallets of salt. This will prevent roots to grow around and underneath the pipe and prevent from this situation from ever happening again. Finally when the pipe is bedded with the salt we will begin to run test to ensure there is no leaks along the mainline and backfill the trench once we are clear. After we backfill we will be placing steel plates over the trench so that the residents in that street can drive over the trench safely until it is patched up. Before the asphalt is poured we will get rid of trash and concrete on the driveway by hauling it out in a dump trailer. When the asphalt is poured and cured we will have a concrete company come and parch up the sidewalk. It was broken up in order to be able to dig and expose the mainline. After the concrete is poured and cured we will double check the property and ensure that it is clean. Also that it gets back as close to its original state as possible. | |
