TC-RES-1024-05741 Withdrawn 10/03/2024 04/01/2025 Residential Building - One or Two Family I currently have a permit for the house. T21CM05104. This permit mostly covers the main house. The guesthouse is included on the last page as well, mostly only intended to update the electrical and some other cosmetic changes. The intention was to complete the work in the guest house before completing the main house. This was to allow us to move into the guest house before tackling the larger renovation in the main house. Unfortunately, when we began the work it was clear that more extensive renovations were needed. There wasn’t any flashing put around the shower and as a result the walls/ceiling had rotted out. The plumbing was also completely gone and had been leaking into the ground. Therefore a large portion of the flooring also needed to be replaced. Once the demo was complete we adjusted the plan. I spoke with Ken Van Karsen. He suggested that I get an entirely different permit but direct the city to the original permit for site plans and context. His suggestion was based on the fact that we do not intend on working on the main house and would not need inspections for that part of the permit. I would also like to point out that the two portions of the house have different addresses for purposes of the electrical grid. Tucson Electric Power has the main house as 2246 E. 6th Street Unit A and the guest house as 2246 E. 6th Street Unit B. The guest house had a stove that was not included in the original plans submitted. I am not sure why but that stove was in the home when we purchased it. The plans submitted by the original owner that built the guest house reflect that. The plans that we are hoping for on this second permit are: we will move the stove, refrigerator and dishwasher from the north wall in the existing kitchen to the south wall in the existing bedroom. In the existing kitchen we will also be moving the door from the north wall to the west wall. In the bathroom we will expand the room to complete the square that was not in the original plan. Into that spot we will move the toilet. We will also move the sink and the shower. We will add a skylight. We also will move the laundry from the exterior shed to the new kitchen. We will also adjust the interior walls to create two small bedrooms and a small hallway where the original kitchen/dining room was previously.
