Flatwork/sidewalk is to be installed per PAG detail 200. There are cross slopes that are more than 2% at the North end of the large oval shaped 10' sidewalk, where it meets the large Flatwork area at the corner of Lalas and Gran Escalera. In that area the plan shows 1.8 % for the cross slopes.
Expansion joints with bituminous 1/2” filler needed at maximum of 40’. There are spans of more than 40’ in the 10’ oval sidewalk.

Modified scupper/Bridge forms are correct good to continue.
5’ sidewalk at west side of site has a switchback going up a slope. This U shape Area is over 5% running slope. This does not conform to PAG 200. I confirmed this with Contractor and the cross slope and expansion joints in the notes from yesterday.

Sidewalk is designed using PAG standard Detail 200. Expansion joints every 40’ max. Cross slope cannot be more than 2% and running slope is not more than 5%. If over 5% handrail on both sides is needed unless ramp is a curb ramp. Contractor built sidewalks using survey stakes. Slopes that are not correct are being questioned by contractor looking to the engineer for how to correct them.
Formed areas are okay to pour but ensure expansion filler material is used at 40’ max.
07/29/2025 Partial Pass 7/29/25
I met with contractor. He had consulted with surveyors and had come up with a plan to fix cross slope in area at corner of Lalas Wy and and Gran Escalera. There are three panels here where sidewalks come together that cross slope is over 2%. These will be corrected. Expansion Joints also needs to be corrected.
Running slope in area of switchback over 5% to the East is still being worked out.
07/30/2025 Partial Pass 7/30/25 slopes and cross slopes of poured section are good. Expansion and contraction joints are correct.

Proposed slopes on pedestrian circulation exceed 5%. Contractor should contact design engineer to provide a plan to meet accessible route requirements. Submit this proposed solution as an RFI to the Portal. Add the file with a narrative about the RFI regarding plan of how to make sidewalks comply with running slope requirements.

Contractor with Borderland is forming sidewalk with a running slope over 5%. This is in section next to Lalas Way running south towards and the Splash Pad.
This does not comply with the code. Contractor is at risk if poured.

Header curb along other half of wood chip play area with rebar is correct. OK to pour the header.

The curb ramp with the island at the north west side of the parking area should have a curb cut in the planter as shown in the plans. The header along the edge of the ramp should slope down to the curb cut at grade with sidewalk ramp, preventing a tripping hazard. Do not pour this as it is now formed.

Unapproved work is continuing on the parking lot for the park at South end of the Site. I was told this area was being revised. There currently are no approved revised plans. The current approved DP is from 5/5/25. The contractor has failed to provide approved plans when I ask for them. The parking lot being built is not in the same location per the DP. It is shifted to the South and the entrance off of Escalera is shifted and curved, not straight in per the DP. I connot approve any of this work until I have approved plans. This work is at risk.
08/20/2025 Partial Pass 8/20/25
PAG stdl. 209 vertical curb has been poured in some areas on both sides of parking lot. Some forms are being stripped. Contractor says compaction tests have been taken on subgrade in the parking area and for the curbs as well. Survey has offsets and elevations staked and forms/footers look good. 30' of curb forms at SW end of parking lot are okay to pour pending good compaction test results. Still waiting on approved drawings.

More curb forms are ready at east side of Parking lot... The straight section from the SE corner and both Radius are okay to pour.

The final section of 10' sidewalk of the large oval feature on plan is formed. Subgrade is loose and needs to be compacted. Expansion joint material is also needed. Not ready to pour. Also expansion material is missing at several areas in this Oval, it is called for at 40' intervals max.

6' sidewalk SW of play structure area is formed. Sub-grade is good. Expansion Material needed to be in place to pour.

14" header defining the other side of the play area needs 2 continuous #4 bars at top and bottom 3" from form. Not ready to pour.
08/26/2025 Partial Pass 8/26/25
-Sidewalk is being formed on inclined area above previously poured sidewalk that is over 5% running slope that has been noted. This new section forms the sidewalk that runs east toward the large oval with turf in middle. Some of the forms are over 5%. Do not pour this section until I can inspect it and approve it.
-Last Section of 10' sidewalk that forms oval is compacted and ready to pour. Include the expansion filler material.
-Do not pour the Sidewalk and Header around the Tot Lot. The engineer needs to respond to question about the scope of where the Concrete turndowns are in the tot lot area. Rebar needs to be centered in Header correctly and inset 3" from top and bottom.
-Okay to continue pouring curb in forms in drive entrance from Gran Escalera at Parking lot Pending Approved Revision.

8/26/25 Reinspection-
Section of sidewalk that runs upslope to the east toward the large oval-running slope now complies. Okay to pour this section using expansion filler at expansion joints.
-Header rebar needs to be adjusted so it is reasonably close to center of forms. Currently it is touching/too close to forms in places. Send Pictures pending approval before pouring header.
09/05/2025 Not Ready Curb ramp at north side of parking lot. 6 inches of vertical separation between top of curb and asphalt not provided. Do not pour curb ramp.
09/09/2025 Partial Pass 9/9/25
NW Curb ramp in parking lot needs to be built to plan. In the elevations, there is there is a curb cut indicated in the vertical curb island next to curb. This cut will lower the curb to meet the header at the correct grade. The header adjacent to the curb ramp should be at the same grade as the curb ramp sloping down to this curb cut. This way a there is less tripping hazard on the header than as currently formed... this curb ramp cannot exceed 8.3%… do not pour this until it is corrected and reinspected.

09/15/2025 Partial Pass Parking lot curb ramps are within acceptable tolerances. Curbing on East and West edges of Playground are complete. Forms are set for sidewalk sections to the North and South of the playground: okay to pour.

A letter from engineer showing changes and locations where the modified scupper/false bridge will be changed to PAG 205 type 2 is needed. DO NOT POUR these scuppers until letter accepted.
Header W/ 2 # 4 bars around East side of splash pad to correct elevation for splash pad sidewalk okay to pour pending acceptance of pictures showing correct clearance on both ends as discussed with contractor.. . Use embeds for railing posts.
6' sidewalk 50'-west of parking lot-forms and AB correct. Okay to pour sidewalk.
11/10/2025 Failed 11/10/25 Two scuppers poured. 1st At SW corner of site ok.

2nd Scupper SW of parking lot is not to plan... separation between FG and invert greater than plan. This is the Outlet invert of Basin 1 off of Paseo Gran Escalera. The Inlet invert from Escalera is lower than the outlet on the proposed plan.
