5-21-26: Per the International Residential Code (IRC) Section P2801, a water heater pan is required when a tank-type water heater is installed in a location where leaks could cause damage (e.g., attics, finished floors, or over living spaces). The pan must be at least 1.5 inches deep, made of corrosion-resistant material, and drained by a minimum 3/4-inch pipe. Additionally, the pressure relief valve cannot be threaded. Make corrections and reschedule inspection. |
