06/15/2022 | COT - ENFC - Code Enforcement - Follow Up | VIDAL | Approved | Entered by VIDAL - Arrived back to the site and all the units have cleared the site and the fire investigators were completing their investigation. The owner was not on site and the tenants were starting to move items out of the house to find another place to stay. The fire was in the attic of the west section area on which appears to have been a garage and converted into living space. The unit in the attic has a brick fire wall and the fire did not carry into the attic of the main house. The wood rafters and ceiling joists are burned or charred through out the unit. The trusses on the main house are OK at this time. The drywall on the south side has been pulled down to check for fire and fire where the insulation was burning. The electrical was burned that was in the attic on the west side area and the main house electrical was OK. The electrical and the gas was removed at the meters due to the damage of the fire. All the windows and doors are able to lock and the tenants will be locking the doors and windows when they are done with removing items out of the house. They did cut 2-vent holes on the roof on the west side area and on the main house near the top on the west side of the main house. The main house has holes in the ceiling in the bedrooms to check for fire in the attic area and found none but did have smoke in the attic on the main house. The west unit has 2-rooms with a bathroom in the middle and the damage was on the south side of that section. The owner was not coming to the house and a friend did show to check the damage and take pictures to send to the owner. The friend was not signing the paperwork and the tenant will be signing the paperwork and will give the copies to the owner when they see each other. Redcross has not been called and did let the tenants know that they can call Redcross if their medication has been damaged. The heating and cooling unit on the main house is OK and may need to be cleaned and checked for smoke in the unit. The water is still on at this time to the property. The bathroom and the north bedroom have no fire damage below the ceiling area and the attice has damage. Did do the posting of Do Not Enter on the front window of the main house and the front window of the west section where the fire was. The friend of the owner has found a place for the tenants to move to and was going to get a Uhaul trailer or truck to move the items out. The owner has made arrangements and was going to keep the same price for the rent. RV. |
