Specifically, the change is to allow a new tenant to have green neon "Aveda Institute" with a white painted text outlined in orange behind the green neon. This change is not to any designated character defining text on the sign, per the 2011 designation case. (Text removed is teal neon "Piccaretta Davis" from adaptive re-use approved 2011.) No conditions to the approval. Notification of 50' adjacent property/across street - was sent 10 days prior to meeting and again after meeting via Director's Decision, per case T19SA00089.
03/19/2019 COT - ENGR - Signage Final Hthrall Continued Entered by HTHRALL1 - Process tequires historic commission plans review subcommittee examination and 50' public notice for alteration to a designated historic landmark sign to: change an 8 square foot panel that was a prior adaptive re-use of the sign with the tenant name "Piccarretta Davis" on it to now read, in paint/neon again, "Aveda". (Different color neon, from teal to a green.) This panel was not character defining text nor character defining feature of the sign per the 2011 Notice of Decision to designate the sign as an HLS. Michael Taku has reserved 4/11/19 for the committee hearing date for 50' property / ward /neighborhood notice to be sent out per ordinance requirements.
