The following comments are for the SDRC to understand differences in sign design criteria in code versus signage aspects proposed.** NOTE: 7A.11.4. A property owner in a PAD district shall use the sign standards of the zone upon which the PAD regulation is modeled or may submit a master sign program. Signage proposed meets criteria outlined for signs within the PAD-11 zoning document. Freestanding Sign Types - Code reference section: UDC 7A.10.2.C.2.a. Freestanding Signs, (1) General Standards Freestanding pole sign requirements: Allowed only in the general business zone category and industrial zone category. (Clarification - based on OCR-1 underlying zone, pole signs would be permitted). This sign exceeds the sign area for a monument sign category.** B) Regarding sign C: **Sign C, 28' setback off Campbell, north of Allen Rd, is less than a 30' setback for a pole sign**. **Sign C, at 13.5' tall as measured from the base, exceeds the 12' height for a pole sign.** **Sign C, at120 sq.ft., exceeds the 72 sq.ft. sign area for a pole sign. C) Regarding sign D: **Sign D, 17' setback off Campbell, south of Allen Rd, is less than a 20' setback for a monument sign.** **Sign D, at 70 sq.ft. exceeds the 50 sq.ft. sign area of a monument sign.** D) Regarding sign H: **Sign H, at 13' setback off Allen Rd, is less than a 20' setback for a monument sign.** E) Location & Number of allowed signs - Signs C & D are located along Campbell Avenue, (sufficient frontage) with 5 monument signs located off Allen Road. Per 7A.10.2.C.2.a.2, freestanding signs, all types: One freestanding sign is permitted for each street frontage. One additional freestanding sign on that street frontage for each additional 150 feet of street frontage in excess of the first 300 feet is allowed. For each sign placed on the frontage of a local street (Allen Road in this case), the total allowance number of freestanding signs for the arterial street frontage (Campbell Avenue in this case) shall be reduced by one. **The proposal requires a request to maintain/install 5 signs on the local street front of Allen Road, without reducing any signage off the arterial street (two proposed on Campbell Avenue).** Clarification: the following signs are interior site signs, which may need permits for building code purposes via the sign permit process, but are not subject otherwise to sign criteria for sign type, as they are not seen or meant to be seen from the right of way and are meant for on site users: J, K, L, N,M. } ; {Activity date: 07/17/2018; Status: Continued; Inspector: hTHRALL; Comment: Entered by HTHRALL1 - Resubmittal was received for review towards a Master Sign Program.
