| 01/10/2013 | SIGN SITE REVIEW | Correction Required | Reviewed by Heather Thrall, Sr. Planner - Signs Division 1/10/13 Project has evolved since original submittal. The following review comments are regarding the proposal to change one of the on site signs into a conforming pole sign with an electronic message center. Acknowledged sign area, height and setbacks proposed are within Sign Code allowance, as is use of an electronic message center limited to 1 change per hour. Per Sign Code Section 3-18 - please provide a scaled site plan for the new sign placement: sight visibility triangles, curb location, sign location related to parking spaces and access points. Per 3-60.C.5 of the Sign Code - provide and diagram the pole cover with minimum dimensions of 18" x 6". This sign is a new sign, please provide footer diagram - Sign Code Section 3-18. Per 3-33 of the Sign Code - provide elevation view diagram that shows the height of the sign to the elevation of the adjacent roadway and to the grade at the base of the sign. We need a slope check between site grade and roadway grade - to ensure the maximum height is 12' - as measured from edge of the travel lane roadway elevation. (since the sign is within 40' of the curb). Please note if the sign is UL listed or whether this sign will need a sign shop inspection to have the inspector see the interior of the sign. Sign shop inspection is $82.50. Please list note on the plans "Per Sign Code 3-53 - Electronic Message Center may change message a maximum of one time per hour - and change to occur in one movement without animation." The proposed electronic message center also needs to comply with Chapter 4 & 5 of the Outdoor Lighting Code. Before the sign proposal can be reviewed by the electrical reviewer for compliance with the OLC, we need the following information on the plans: 1) NITS of the sign -day and night (max 200 NITS at night) 2) Timer or dimmer mechanism 3) Shut off switch called out 4) Color temperature of the sign day and night Note, further review comments may be forthcoming, the above notation was to give direction on the minimum information the electrical reviewer requires to proceed with his review. If you need assistance with the Outdoor lighting code, contact Ray Majuta at 837-4988. |
