Leak detection devices required by Section 2206.7.7.1 shall be checked and tested at least annually in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications to ensure proper installation and operation. · Please provide documentation of test results Section 3404.2.12.3 Existing tanks and piping. Existing underground storage tanks and piping shall be tested for leakage at the owner's or operator's expense at least every 24 months in accordance with this section. EXCEPTION: Underground storage tank systems with an approved method of detecting leaks from any component of the system. Tanks shall be emptied of flammable or combustible liquids if required tests are not completed within the specified time. When testing is required, owners or operators shall provide the fire code official with data setting forth the method of testing that is to be used and shall submit the name of a qualified individual who will conduct the test. A testing permit shall be obtained. The method of testing to be used shall consider the effects of temperature, pressure and other variables and shall establish conclusively whether the tank or piping is leaking. Pneumatic testing is prohibited. Devices used for final testing shall be capable of detecting leaks as small as 0.05 gallon per hour. Leaking piping and equipment shall not be used until repaired or replaced. The fire code official is authorized to require that the test be conducted in the code official's presence. · Please provide a copy of the tank tightness and line leak test results. |
