Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications). ___1. PROBLEM: Portable fire extinguisher in office is on floor. TFC REFERENCE: 906.7 Hangers and brackets. Hand-held portable fire extinguishers, not housed in cabinets, shall be installed on the hangers or brackets supplied. Hangers or brackets shall be securely anchored to the mounting surface in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have portable fire extinguisher properly mounted on a bracket. ___2. PROBLEM: Sign in window in office is connected to an extension cord. Also unapproved extension cord being used under desk. TFC REFERENCE: 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Plug appliances directly into electrical outlet or approved power strip with GFI. ___3. PROBLEM: Approved power strip plugged (piggy backed) into another power strip. TFC REFERENCE: 605.4.2 Power supply. Relocatable power taps shall be directly connected to a permanently installed receptacle. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Power strips must be plugged into electrical outlet. ___4. PROBLEM: Portable fire extinguisher by unit 51 on the bank of units farthest north has tag which is out of date. TFC REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified individual service portable fire extinguisher with out of date inspection tag.
