02/04/2008 | INSP - FULL | Correction Required | The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspection at the above stated business . Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications). ___1. PROBLEM: Hood system does not appear to have been serviced since 2005. TFC REFERENCE: 904.11.6.4 Extinguishing system service. Automatic fire-extinguishing systems shall be serviced at least every 6 months and after activation of the system. Inspection shall be by qualified individuals, and a certificate of inspection shall be forwarded to the fire code official upon completion. REQUIRED CORRECTION; Have qualified individual service hood extinguishing system every 6 months. 2. PROBLEM: Records of hood being serviced not available on premises for fire official to inspect. TFC REFERENCE:901.6.2 Records. Records of all system inspections, tests and maintenance required by the referenced standards shall be maintained on the premises for a minimum of three years and shall be copied to the fire code official upon request. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Records of all hood system servicing, maintenance and cleaning shall be maintained on the premises for three years. ___3. PROBLEM: No class K portable fire extinguisher available in kitchen area. Extinguisher present is wrong kind of extinguisher for commercial cooking hood system. TFC REFERENCE: 904.11.5 Portable fire extinguishers for commercial cooking equipment. Portable fire extinguishers shall be provided within a 30-foot (9144 mm) travel distance of commercial-type cooking equipment. Cooking equipment involving vegetable or animal oils and fats shall be protected by a Class K rated portable extinguisher. REQUIRED CORRECTION: A class K portable fire extinguisher shall be mounted within a 30 foot distance of the commercial hood system and clearly visible. ___4. PROBLEM: Escutcheon plate missing from sprinkler head in ladies restroom. TFC REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified individual replace missing escutcheon plate on sprinkler head in ladies restroom. ___5. PROBLEM:Access to electrical panel by back exit blocked. TFC REFERENCE: 605.3Working space and clearance. A working space of not less than 30 inches (762 mm) in width, 36 inches (914 mm) in depth and 78 inches (1981 mm) in height shall be provided in front of electrical service equipment. Where the electrical service equipment is wider than 30 inches (762 mm), the working space shall not be less than the width of the equipment. No storage of any materials shall be located within the designated working space. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Provide proper clearance around electrical panel. ___6. PROBLEM: Extension cord used for sign in front of sushi side and extension cord used as permanent wiring to freezer in back of sushi side. TFC REFERENCE: 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact. Extension cords shall be used only with portable appliances. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Eliminate use of extension cords. May use approved power strips. ___7. PROBLEM: Sprinkler heads above sushi bar area are recessed into drop ceiling. TFC REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective.
