Fire protection systems shall be maintained in accordance with the original installation standards for that system. Required systems shall be extended, altered, or augmented as necessary to maintain and continue protection whenever the building is altered, remodeled or added to. Alterations to fire protection systems shall be done in accordance with applicable standards. The fire sprinkler riser area did not have spare sprinkler head boxes. Spare heads, a sprinkler head wrench, and a metal box to store them is usually installed near each fire sprinkler riser. additionally, there were a couple of painted sprinkler heads noted in various areas. The sprinkler service company should check all the heads and replace any heads that are not factory painted. fire sprinkler heads shall not be painted unless they are factory painted andlisted for use as such. |
