02/12/2007 VIOL - BUILDING SVCS & SYSTEMS WCUMMING Correction Required 603.6 Chimneys and appliances. Chimneys, incinerators, smokestacks or similar devices for conveying smoke or hot gases to the outer air and the stoves, furnaces, fireboxes or boilers to which such devices are connected, shall be maintained so as not to create a fire hazard. The kiln vent piping is loosely run from the kiln to the outside vent and was found laying on top of combustible cardboard boxes. The vent piping also appears to be typical flexible dryer vent ducting and may not be listed or rated for use as a kiln vent duct.
02/12/2007 VIOL - FIRE RESIST.RATED CONST WCUMMING Correction Required 703.1 Maintenance. The required fire-resistance rating of fire-resistance-rated construction (including walls, fire stops, shaft enclosures, partitions and floors) shall be maintained. Such elements shall be properly repaired, restored or replaced when damaged, altered, breached or penetrated. Ceiling panels in the MPR building are missing or not in place.
02/12/2007 VIOL - FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS WCUMMING Correction Required 901.4 Installation. Fire protection systems shall be maintained in accordance with the original installation standards for that system. Required systems shall be extended, altered, or augmented as necessary to maintain and continue protection whenever the building is altered, remodeled or added to. Alterations to fire protection systems shall be done in accordance with applicable standards. The fire sprinkler riser area did not have spare sprinkler head boxes. Spare heads, a sprinkler head wrench, and a metal box to store them is usually installed near each fire sprinkler riser. additionally, there were a couple of painted sprinkler heads noted in various areas. The sprinkler service company should check all the heads and replace any heads that are not factory painted. fire sprinkler heads shall not be painted unless they are factory painted andlisted for use as such.
02/12/2007 VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS WCUMMING Correction Required 1006.1 Illumination required. The means of egress, including the exit discharge, shall be illuminated at all times the building space served by the means of egress is occupied. Emergency lighting in the MPR building was broken and needs to be repaired or replaced.
02/12/2007 VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS WCUMMING Correction Required 1011.5.3 Power source. Exit signs shall be illuminated at all times. To ensure continued illumination for a duration of not less than 90 minutes in case of primary power loss, the sign illumination means shall be connected to an emergency power system provided from storage batteries, unit equipment or an on-site generator. Exit lights was found to not work when the test button was pushed. Repair or replace as needed throughout.
