On 9-14-06, a letter was sent to the above address indicated our concern for some components of the fire alarm system in accordance with NFPA 72, The National Fire Alarm Code. Specifically, the non-listed devices on the fire alarm system are a concern to The Tucson Fire Department Fire Prevention Division. Currently a switch commonly found to turn lights on and off, is being used as an initiating device for the fire alarm system. Plans submitted require a Class A Fire alarm system. This is not a listed component of a Class A fire alarm system. A certificate or written documentation for an approved contractor indicating all components meets NFPA for a Class A fire alarm system You current contractor SimlexGrinnell is aware of these requirements. Please submit information indicating light switch type device is listed for fire alarm usage. This letter is to inform you that abatement of these Tucson Fire Code violations must be completed by 1-7-07 A re-inspection shall be conducted at that time to ensure compliance. Failure to comply with these Tucson Fire Code requirements could result in civil litigation under; City of Tucson Ordinance 9609. |
