06/02/2005 INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT Approved 6/02/05 VISITED SITE, TOOK PICTURES. SPOKE WITH TENANT, CHEYENNE CHURLEY, WENT OVER ISSUES OF TERMITES. EXPLAINED HOW INSPECTION AND NOV WORKED. CHEYENNE DID MENTION THAT SHE MAY BE MOVING OUT, EVIDENCED BY BOXES AND CRATES PACKED UP AND PLACED IN LIVINGROOM. TENANT DID AGAIN MENTION THAT SHE WAS JUST NOT SURE WHAT SHE WANTED TO DO. CHEYENNE SHOWED ME WHERE SHE THOUGHT THE TERMITE DAMAGE WAS. I DID FIND SEVERAL VERY SMALL PIN SIZED HOLES IN THE WALL AND CEILING AREA AT THE NORTH WALL OF THE LIVINGROOM. TENANT ALSO SHOWED US A CRACK IN THE STUCCO OUTSIDE WHERE AGEIN SHE FELT TERMITES WERE COMING IN, HOWEVER THERE WAS NO STRIKING EVIDENCE THAT ANY OF THESE AREAS WERE CAUSED BY TERMITES. WE FOUND NO MUD TUNNELS NORMALLY FOUND IN INFESTED AREAS.
WHEN FIRST ARRIVING AT THE APARTMENT INSPECTORS GOODMAN AND VIDAL TALKED WITH MANAGER REBECCA, WHO MENTIONED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE TENANT WAS GIVEN THE OPTION OF RELOCATING TO ANOTHER APARTMENT, TENANT REFUSED BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT INCONVIENENCE TO HAVE TO MOVE AND THE FACT THAT HER LEASE WAS UP IN JUNE. REBECCA ALSO MENTIONED HELP TO MOVE HER LARGER FURNITURE WAS OFFERED.
MENTIONED THE ABOVE INFO TO CHEYENNE WHO AGREED THAT MANAGEMENT DID MAKE THE OFFERS BUT FELT THAT THERE WAS NO APOLOGY FROM MANAGEMENT AND FELT THAT SHE SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR HER INCONVIENENCES. I INFORMED CHEYENNE THAT DNR DID NOT GET INVOLVED IN THAT AREA. INSPECTOR VIDAL INSPECTED THE UNIT, FOUND SOME MINOR VIOLATIONS, OUR FINDINGS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
>EAST WALL CONVIENENCE OUTLET IN LIVINGROOM IS LOOSE.
>STOVE BURNERS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. HALF LIT WHEN THEY COME ON, AND ONLY THREE WORK.
>CEILING IN HALLWAY IS SOFT AND IN NEED OF REPAIR.
>REFRIGERATOR DOOR IS NOT SEALING PROPERLY.
>FRONT DOOR NOT PROPERLY SEALED.
TENANTS BOYFRIEND KEN MENTIONED THAT HE HAD MADE MANY REPAIRS IN THE UNIT PRIOR TO DNR INSPECTION. WILL FOLLOW UP WITH NOV.
